Ontario Mutual Loss Prevention League (OMLPL)

This is intended to be an in-person event; however, a virtual option is available.

We are looking forward to having participants together at 350 Pinebush Road for April’s meeting of the OMLPL but are happy to accommodate those who need to engage in virtual format. A more detailed Agenda is attached to this notice.

‘Heat Transfer’ is one of the subjects that will be explored during the time we are together. Drawing on member’s observations from the field and actual claims experience we will discuss different ways that heat transfer might be responsible for fire in property that we insure.

Participants will have the opportunity to contemplate an example of the type of liability claim that a member company might be involved with as a result of an allegation of legal liability leading to bodily injury and/or property damage to a third party.

We are reintroducing the ‘Lessons from the Field’ feature to this agenda – this is a ‘snapshot’ explanation of whatever it is/was – think 5-10 minutes. Have you come across something interesting as you travel across your area – anything that, when you observed it, might have made you think ‘that’s interesting’ or ‘wish I’d thought of that’ or ‘wait ‘til I tell my OMLPL colleagues about this one’.

We are going to launch an effort to document the ‘Fundamentals of Loss Prevention’ by asking participants to identify what the term ‘risk assessment’ means to them and what responsibilities it carries.

In addition to responding to questions & comments both those submitted in advance and those that come from the floor (in room and virtual) we’ll dedicate some time to discussing topics including:

  • Preventative maintenance and take some time to talk to a firm that assists agricultural & other commercial firms to apply electrical safety best practices.
  • Biosecurity and how & perhaps why some livestock diseases are reoccurring and the risk of geographic and species crossing events.
  • Insurance to value and how the observations of risk assessors in the field can assist the decision makers in the office.
  • Next level information on spray foam based on situations that have been observed in the field.
  • Irrigation systems

All participants must be confirmed registrants. Please do not share link with unregistered participant.

If participating virtually, we encourage each participant to individually log into the session to maximize the learning experience and take advantage of any interactive activities. Please ensure your device has audio and visual capabilities, including a microphone and a camera.

We look forward to seeing your company represented.
